Local by default.
Typeme keeps your profile, stores, daily log, keys, and screenshots in your user account. When you run an action, only the assembled prompt leaves — and only to the model provider you chose.
Local only
The data map
Two lists. That is the whole model.
Stays on your Mac
- Profile, stores, and the daily log
- API keys in
providers.json(0600) - Screenshots, only if you enable recording
- Local logs and panel history
Leaves when you run an action
- The selected text, or the OCR result
- The active window title
- The matched store's title and background
- Up to eight recent log excerpts, 500 characters each
- Your
profile.mdand the action prompt
That is the whole payload. The context folder, keys, screenshots, and logs are never uploaded.
Where it goes
Three ways to run a model.
Default
Typeme Cloud
The request goes through Typeme's Worker and Cloudflare AI Gateway. An anonymous install ID is used for rate limiting — not an account, not a secret. No training on your requests.
Your key
Your provider
The prompt goes straight to Anthropic, DeepSeek, OpenAI, or any compatible endpoint. That provider's policy applies.
Offline
A local model
Point Typeme at a local OpenAI-compatible server and nothing leaves the machine.
Permissions and logs
Two prompts, one log file.
- Accessibility
- Read the selection and write the result back Required
- Screen Recording
- ⌥S region capture · OCR with Apple Vision Optional
- Request log
- ~/Library/Logs/Typeme/Typeme.log Local
- API keys
- ~/.config/Typeme/providers.json Local
No account
Nothing to sign up for.
There is no Typeme account and no retention setting to opt out of. The daily log is kept until you delete it, and uninstalling the app does not delete your context folder — it is yours.
